Prevention is better than cure!

You can reduce the risk of head lice by practicing consistent and informed hygiene habits at home and in school.

To protect yourself and your family, you should do the following:

1

Avoid head-to-head contact, especially while playing, taking group selfies, or while seated close to someone else. Those sneaky lice can easily crawl from someone else’s hair to your hair.

2

Do not share personal items such as combs, hairbrushes, hats, towels, pillows, or hair accessories, as these can indirectly transfer lice.

3

Tie long hair (e.g., braids, ponytails, buns) during school hours to reduce hair-to-hair contact.

4

Check your scalp regularly, especially behind the ears and at the nape of the neck, so you can detect lice early and treat them immediately.

5

Maintain clean personal items, washing pillowcases, towels, and frequently used clothing regularly.

6

Inform parents or teachers early if you notice itching or lice, since early reporting prevents wider spread and reduces stigma.
