Is that itch really just an itch?

Watch Out!

Physical Symptoms

Head lice infestation comes with some annoying physical and emotional symptoms. Watch out for these! These are signs you shouldn’t ever ignore, as things will get worse if you don’t get it treated right away.

The most common physical symptom is continuous scalp itching caused by an allergic reaction to lice bites. It can get so bad that you can’t sleep or concentrate at school anymore.

Also, scratching nonstop can damage your skin and give you wounds. This can then lead to secondary infections, sores, and scalp irritation, especially when left untreated for long.

Emotional & Psychosocial Symptoms

Besides the physical discomfort, you may also feel emotional and behavioral symptoms after the infestation.

Other pupils and kids of your age say that they feel shame, fear, and anxiety, often choosing to hide and keep those tiny bugs into a tiny little secret to avoid being teased or bullied.

Your teachers and parents have also observed that kids with lice avoid being with others, get distracted in class, and can become emotionally distressed, which can damage your confidence or how well you do in school.
